Playing the videos

Paperless Christmas once again presents The Adventures of Mary and Joseph - The Road Movie, a retelling of the nativity story in nine video episodes:

As you move your cursor along the queue at the bus stop on the homepage, each of the episodes is identified, and the poster in the billboard above the queue changes accordingly. Watch the episodes in order or just go straight to your favourite one - you decide. To watch a video episode, click on the relevant character in the queue. A video screen will automatically open and the video will start to play.

Once the video has finished playing, you have the option to watch it again or to go on to watch the next episode. Click on the relevant link, or click on the X above the top right hand corner of the video screen to close it and return to the homepage.

Can I download the videos to use in my school or church?

Yes, you are welcome to download and show the videos in school or church. Links on the homepage will take you to the Downloads page. You can download each episode individually or, for the first time, a CombinedMovie version which includes all nine episodes in one sequence. Also available to download are all the additional video clips from Paperless Christmas in previous years that are used within the Barnabas resources and ideas for schools and churches (see below for more on these). All the videos can be downloaded in either Windows Media (for PC users) or QuickTime (for Mac users) formats.

My video seems to stutter or stop while it’s playing

The videos are streamed from our server, so it may take a few moments before they fully load and begin to play. When you click on one of the characters on the homepage and the video screen opens, you should see some controls across the bottom of the screen. As the video is streamed from the server the long rectangular bar fills with grey. A white cursor moves along this bar as the video actually plays on screen. If your broadband connection is running slow (for example if you have a number of internet applications running at the same time) then the video will stream more slowly and the video may appear to stutter or stop playing while the streaming continues. If this happens, click on the pause button (immediately to the left of the rectangular bar). Wait for the grey to fill the whole of the bar and then click the triangular play button. The video should play now with no problem. Alternatively just let the video play to the end and then click on ‘Play again’ and this time the video will play straight through as it has already been streamed to your computer.
